New Cincinnati Real Estate Construction in Over The Rhine

There is positive news this week as additional construction in Over The Rhine add mixed income real estate into the Cincinnati market. While the market is down, nearly all of the units (8/11)in Phase 1 have been pre-purchased according to yesterday’s newscast on wvxu. The development group 3CDC continues to lead the charge in redeveloping the neighborhoods adjacent to Downtown, providing new options for those looking to purchase Cincinnati real estate in the heart of the city.

The best news is that this project is mixed income and this shows the continued commitment by 3CDC and the city to include residents of all income levels and not just those who can pay premiums for newly renovated construction. It is important for the vitality of the city that these efforts to provide affordable ($160,000 for over 1,500 SQFT of new construction) continue. An additional 11 units are planned and the Over-the-Rhine Community Housing is a partner in this project. They are providing special financing on five of the 22 units, making them affordable for low to moderate income buyers.

Downtown Cincinnati Streetcar News

Urban Cincy reported this morning that Mayor Mallory has selected the development company that will finance, plan, design,construct, operate and maintain Cincinnati’s Modern Streetcar System. The location of the streetcar would be on the northern end of the Downtown/Over the Rhine circulator which would head uptown from there. This is great news for Cincinnati Real Estate. The addition of a streetcar in Downtown Cincinnati is great news for Cincinnati Real Estate. The continual development and success of downtown will continue to attract the creative class, which could eventually lead to new businesses moving their headquarters to Cincinnati.

The annual P&G Taste of Cincinnati USA is this weekend on Fifth Street downtown. Now the nation’s longest running culinary arts festival, the Taste features over 40 fine restaurants serving delectable menu items. Cincinnati Metro Goes Green

Cincinnati Metro launched six hybrid mass transit buses today on Earth Day. To celebrate the occasion there was a parade of the new buses from Eden Park to Downtown. This story was featured on CNN. It is great to see national news covering positive stories about Cincinnati.

Cincinnati: Rated One of the Top 6 Cities for Steady Home Prices for 2008

CNNMoney.com did a study to find the cities where home prices are likely to rise the most – or fall the least – over the next 12 months. The top six cities were: Atlanta, Boston, CINCINNATI, Cleveland, Detroit, and Houston.

The article states that the reason Cincinnati appears on this list is a result of the city’s manufacturing-heavy economy which should benefit from the falling dollar. Commercial building is up, and high-end developments are moving in. Some of these developments include The Banks Project, The Gateway Quarter, and other 3CDC downtown projects are contributing to the local economy. Other notable development in the suburbs include Kenwood Towne Place, Nordstrom that is being constructed at the Kenwood Towne Centre, and the recent addition of IKEA in West Chester.

Want to test your endurance? Sunday, February 24^th is the annual Climb the Carew Tower event to raise money for the American Lung Association for details please click here. Climb the tallest building in Cincinnati a whopping 45 floor climb.

Events with Approximate Start Times:

10:00 am-10:30 am Competitor-Climb up the tower as fast as you can while racing others

10:30 am-11:00 am Superclimb- Race up the tower, back down, and back up again

11:30 am -1:30 pm Casual Climb- Take your time and have fun

1:30 pm- 2:00 pm Half Climb- Climb up to floor 21, a good race for kids

The fees for this race are $50 registration and a $75 pledge minimum totaling ($125) all for a great cause. Have fun!
